The Practice, 2022

48 x 48 in
Collage with gouache, acrylic, found paper, fabric, personal ephemera, Waldo (you have to find him).

The Practice is a piece of interwoven stories from the inner world and the outer world. The process involves meticulous preparation, discovery, and articulation, as papers (found and foraged from the artist's childhood) are methodically painted with gouache, and then cut up to form something new. Your eye and your brain scan the fractal pieces for congruency, familiarity, pattern, but are repetitively tricked and sent on to continue the search. This seeking, including the physiology of it, is a metaphor for life, and to head down the self-fulfilling spiral, the fractals of life.
